Roaming FAQ

Everything you need to know about staying connected while traveling internationally.

What is eSIM and how does roaming work?

An eSIM is a digital SIM embedded in your device. When you purchase a SIMHB roaming package, you gain access to local partner networks in your destination country. Your device connects to these networks just like with a physical SIM, but without swapping cards.

Will I get 5G speeds while roaming?

5G availability depends on the destination country and local network infrastructure. SIMHB packages automatically connect to the fastest available network (5G/4G/LTE) at your location. Peak speeds may be capped depending on your package tier.

How is roaming different from my home data plan?

SIMHB roaming packages use local partner networks in your destination, which often provides better speeds and lower costs than international roaming add-ons from your home carrier. You will see a local carrier name in your status bar.

Can I use voice and SMS while roaming?

SIMHB packages are data-focused. For voice and SMS, we recommend using VoIP apps like WhatsApp, Skype, or your home carrier's international roaming. Some devices may support SMS via eSIM—check your phone settings.

What happens if I go over my data limit?

You can purchase additional data at any time through our app or website. Your new package activates immediately. Without additional data, your connection will be suspended until you top up.

Can I use my eSIM in multiple countries?

Regional packages cover multiple countries within a geographic area (e.g., Europe). Global packages cover 100+ countries — each plan lists exactly where it works. You can also buy separate plans for different destinations and manage them all under My eSIMs.

Does roaming work on all devices?

Roaming requires an eSIM-capable device and a SIMHB roaming package. Most modern smartphones (iPhone XS+, Pixel 3+, Samsung S20+) support eSIM. Your device must also be carrier-unlocked to use third-party eSIM services.

How do I enable roaming on my device?

After purchasing your SIMHB package and activating your eSIM profile, roaming is typically enabled automatically. For iOS, check Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data Options > Data Roaming. For Android, check Settings > Network & Internet > Mobile Network > Roaming.

Will roaming work on my cruise ship or airplane?

Standard roaming does not work over water or in flight. Some cruise lines and airlines offer separate connectivity solutions. SIMHB works on land in all supported countries.

Is it safe to use public networks while roaming?

SIMHB packages provide a private data connection, which is more secure than public WiFi. For maximum security, avoid accessing sensitive accounts on public networks and consider using a VPN for additional protection.
